My Early Life Story

I was born into a simple, loving family in the beautiful Ruby Valley, at the foothills of Ganesh Himal in Dhading District, Nepal. Ruby Valley is a remote, peaceful countryside, surrounded by majestic mountains and traditional villages. Growing up there was truly special. Our lives were simple but full of nature, hard work, and community spirit.

When I was a child, I often spent my days herding sheep and playing in the hills with friends. Life in the mountains taught me the value of patience and hard work. Later, my mother encouraged me to go to school, reminding me that education could change my future. I completed my schooling in my hometown, which was not easy because the school was far and the facilities were limited. Still, I was determined to learn.

After finishing school, I moved to Kathmandu to continue my studies. The transition was very challenging for me. Life in the city was expensive. I had to pay for college, food, and rent all on my own. To manage everything, I started working while studying. Sometimes it was tough to balance work and education, but my dream kept me moving forward.

I decided to study Travel and Tourism because I have always loved nature, mountains, and meeting new people from around the world. Trekking has always been my passion. It connects me deeply with my roots and gives me the chance to share Nepal’s natural beauty and culture with others.

Even though it wasn’t easy to find good opportunities in the beginning, I never gave up. I always remember my grandfather’s words: “No pain, no gain.” Those simple words have become my life’s motivation.

Today, I feel proud to work as a trekking guide, helping people explore the Himalayas and experience the real beauty of Nepal. Every trek reminds me of my own journey, from a small village boy herding sheep to someone who now leads travelers to the world’s most breathtaking trails. My goal is to continue growing in this field and strive to provide not just adventures but lifelong memories to travelers.

Starting My Journey As a Porter

I began my trekking career as a porter at about 17. At the time, it was very difficult to find work in the trekking industry, especially for someone without relatives or family connections. In Nepal, opportunities often come more easily if you have family members already working in trekking companies.

When I first started as a porter, I didn’t know how to speak English. I studied in a government school in a very remote village, where only Nepali was taught. English was not included in the curriculum. After completing my schooling, I moved to Kathmandu to pursue further studies.

Due to financial hardship, I began seeking work in the hospitality sector. However, many people told me that I was too young and too small to work in trekking. They doubted my ability to carry 30 kgs of load, which is common for porters. Thankfully, growing up in the mountains had made me strong. So, carrying heavy loads was not a big challenge for me.

When I finally got the opportunity to work as a porter, I wanted to communicate with my clients. But due to my poor English, I could not communicate well with them. While working, I learned some words with my clients. Slowly, I improved, little by little, and started speaking basic English.

After years of hard work and dedication, I am proud to say I have been a trekking guide for almost 15 years. Now, I can also communicate with people from all over the world and share the beauty of Nepal with them.
